Adapting Client Options for COVID-19
Sidekick Media Services Utilizes Remote Options to Keep Clients Moving
PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania - Sidekick Media Services, a Pittsburgh-based multimedia company, announces that they are utilizing remote options to keep clients moving.
Mike Sorg, Video and Media Director with Sidekick Media Services discussed how the company has been assisting clients during COVID-19, saying, “Many people have been impacted by stay at home orders and modified work capacities. We’re thankful that we have been able to assist clients with adapting to this environment through remote options for recording, streaming, and providing content for their companies.”
By providing safe options, the company has been able to assist those in the performance fields, including musicians, comedians, and professional wrestlers. But, it’s also about providing assistance to the community through programming such as Listen to Your Parents.
“A friend of ours who has worked in television actually came to us with an idea for parenting assistance. We’re grateful to be able to provide the platform,” said Sorg.
The projects Sidekick Media Services has assisted with during this time include:
Ya Jagoff Comedy & Music Series
Shortly after COVID-19 closures were underway in Pittsburgh, our friends at Ya Jagoff put together a series of weekly live streams bringing together a comedian and a musician to talk about their work and to offer an opportunity for live streaming performances. Sidekick Media Services orchestrated the live stream each week, bringing in the hosts as well as the artists from their respective locations. In addition to performances, we implemented a banner across the bottom of the live stream with information for artist Venmo accounts. The talent featured during the series are: Ray Zawodni, Living with Monsters, Aaron Kleiber, Justin Wade Band, T-Robe, Tim Vitullo, Collin Chamberlin, Johnny Angel & KC, John Evans, and NaPoM.

Listen to Your Parents
Also implemented shortly after COVID-19 closures were implemented in Pittsburgh, we helped a former KDKA producer implement a new web video and podcast series by parents and for parents. The show brings parents together to talk about how they're handling being at home 24/7 with their kids and spouses, and talks about some of the nuances of navigating life without work and daycare. Sidekick Media Services manages the remote live stream, as well as audio editing and uploading to the podcast host for subscribers and listeners to listen. We also assist with social media distribution of the podcast via Facebook.

Pittsburgh Pro Wrestling
One of the biggest changes we've made with COVID-19 is how we work with our wrestling clients. As live wrestling events were cancelled beginning mid-March, our wrestling clients turned to online options.
Renegade Wrestling Alliance (RWA)
RWA fans may be missing their monthly action, but the company organized a massive interactive tournament for the occasion. Listing members from the history of their 11-year history across a bracket, they put each bracket out for their fans to vote on. Once the votes are compiled, the company's commentary team goes live to Facebook for a breakdown of the voting results and introduction to the new brackets. Some of the performers provide promo videos, others have joined in live as part of the stream. Sidekick Media Services manages the live stream, including live switching between stream participants and insertion of graphics for match-ups and voting results.
Prospect Pro Wrestling (2PW)
Prospect Pro Wrestling went a different route than RWA. The company featured watch-along videos of some of their shows from the prior year. We helped to orchestrate the playback with livestream, having members of their roster join in to talk about the matches as they replayed - all while opening it into a live chatroom setting with fans. When the county opened to green, the roster got together for a training session which we were on-site to record. Recording for these events included a 3-camera set-up for in-ring match-ups, as well as a 4th camera set up for promos and interviews. Content was post-edited and is released on a weekly basis through scheduled video for the company's Facebook page. Sidekick Media Services has provided video recording and editing services for the endeavor.
Fight Underground
Fight Underground is a new promotion. Without having a back catalog of content to pull from, the company wanted to do a lead-in to introduce fans to the roster. It started as reveal videos that roster members have "gone underground." From there, the company added videos revealing members of its council which led to weekly live streams of council meetings. Once Allegheny County opened to green, the company organized a training day for the roster where they coordinated a set of matches as well as pre-fight and post-fight interviews. All content was filmed on site and post-edited for release on a weekly basis through the company's Facebook page. Sidekick Media Services has provided video recording and editing services, as well as social media management through posting content via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram during COVID-19 closures.
